Happy New Year – Big Things!

New Year Sparkler

Happy New Year to you!! Wow. What a crazy end to the year.

Let’s begin with December 18th, 2015. We brought home our new baby – a beautiful golden retriever puppy. We named her Makita, just like the power tools (there is a back story, but I’m going to keep the mystery here). She slept through the first night and is so amazing. She has been such a joy and has made us smile and laugh more than our usual silly selves.

Let’s fast-forward a week to December 24th, 2015: Christmas Eve. My boyfriend and I have our parents over for a lovely evening with lots of food and lots of laughter. Our parents leave at 10:30PM and I figure we’re going to head to bed. He asks me if I would like another glass of wine, which is something he knows I don’t turn down :P. Well, he had an ulterior motive in keeping me awake: he proposed. I’m now engaged! Ahhh! And the ring is so beautiful.

December 25th, 2015: Christmas Day. My Fiancé (ahhhh) and I break the news to both sets of parents separately. Their reactions were better than anything I could have hoped for. They are all so excited for us :). Because I’m not emotional enough as it is, I open my present from my parents. What do I find? A brand new Canon Rebel T5i with 2 lenses. I burst into tears (for the 5th time that day) and yell at them for making such a large purchase. The excitement and happiness on their faces is something I can’t even begin to try to get down on paper. I wish I had taken a picture. Their happiness made me feel so happy! I know how they feel – I absolutely love it when I give someone a gift they truly adore.

Big things are happening. I have a feeling that 2016 is going to be the best year of my life. I am so unbelievably lucky for everything that I have and I’m not just talking about the tangible items. I am surrounded by so much love, which can sometimes be overlooked. This is something that I seem to forget easily when I get into one of my moods. My New Year’s Resolution? Never forget the love.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. To 2016!
